Jussie Smollett in court.

The Curious Case Of Jussie Smollett And the City of Chicago: The Verdict Is In.

Back in 2020 when charges of disorderly conduct for falsifying evidence were reintroduced against Jussie Smollett, I wrote this article out of my disgust for the city of Chicago, particularly in city officials being so expedient with the pursuing of charges against Jussie, but turning a blind eye to R. Kelly who held black women and girls hostage in Chicago for years.

R. Kelly was also aided by Chicago Police in his efforts to torment the lives of these women.

Jussie has now been found guilty and has been sentenced to 30 months felony probation, which includes 150 days in prison.

While I still question Jussie’s innocence, a claim he has stated consistently and even after the jury found him guilty on five of the six felony charges against him, what’s more disconcerting to me is the statement being made in charging him.

One of the claims by the judge was that Jussie wasted police resources as officers spent hours investigating his case. Yet what of knowledge that Chicago Police were informing R. Kelly of police activity and protecting his homes and studios in the city? Weren’t those officers not only wasting resources but also breaking the law by aiding and abetting a criminal?
